Thoughts From The Holy Land

I am on a flight back from a nine day trip to the Holy Land. While I expected to see some amazing sights both physically and spiritually I never expected the true feeling of bringing the bible story to life. On the last night in Jerusalem our travel guide asked us if we remembered those old pop-up books we had as children. "Well," she said, "after this trip your bible is now a pop-up book for you!"
Now I realize that most of us will never have the chance to travel to the Holy Land but what if as parents and teachers of children we tried to make the bible a pop-up book for our kids. Through giving them real life experiences where they can see the gospel come to life. Maybe it’s as simple as having them fast from a favorite food or drink and discuss Jesus in the desert for 40 days. (Matthew 4:1-11) Or having fish and loaves of bread at dinner and sharing the gospel story from Matthew 14:13-21. Our learning is enhanced when we experience it!

Lets work together to make the bible a pop-up bible for our kids!
